Pros:
Mental Health
Skateboarding has been shown to be beneficial to both physical and mental health. It relieves boredom, and going to a skatepark serves as a gateway for teenagers. It serves as an opportunity for them to release stress or emotion while also learning how to gain confidence.
Skill Development
Skateboarding includes skill development, determination, and the ability to overcome obstacles. Individuals can develop and achieve personal goals, which boosts self-esteem and self worth.
Social Interaction
Being at a skatepark means you're surrounded by others who share your passion. That brings relief to anyone who is present. Teenagers can learn from other teenagers or people nearby in order to improve their abilities and make new friends! Skateboarding at a skatepark is a fantastic social activity for introverted children, allowing them to get out and meet new people.
Cons:
Environmental Impact
-> Not environmentally friendly due to the amount of concrete solution that goes into developing a well-constructed skatepark.
Cost and Value
-> To have the best outcome, skateparks should be both designed and constructed by special contractors. This can get very expensive, sometimes costing between $50-$85 per square foot.
-> Most public skateparks are free for anyone in the community to use. Over time and use, skateparks generally go down in value. Which means skateparks generate zero profit for the operators.
Safety and Risk
-> Skateboarding itself carries several physical risks, especially when done without proper equipment or skill.
